Chatw is an English-language chat for adults. Everyone shares the same rooms, so you meet people from the UK and from all over the world in one place, instead of a separate UK room that sits empty.
It is free and there is no registration. Pick a name and a gender tag and you are in.
How to find people from the UK
Open the people list. A small flag sits before each name, so look for the Union Jack. On a computer, hold the mouse over a flag to see the full place name, such as Scotland, United Kingdom.
Open someone's profile to see their flag and region, for example the UK flag with SCT for Scotland. Then tap Message to start a private chat.
There is no country filter in the people list, so the flags are the way to spot people from the UK.
Show where you are
When you join, the site fills in your country from your connection. You can change it. If you would rather not say, choose Somewhere else, and no flag shows next to your name.
For the UK you can also pick England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. That part is optional. Ireland is a separate country on the list. The site never shows your city, your town or your exact location.
UK time and the room
Message times show in your own device's clock, so in the UK you see UK time, on GMT in winter and BST in summer.
The people you meet may be on a very different clock. For most of the year, New York is five hours behind London. If someone says tonight, check their flag first.
Find the right people
Filter the people list by gender and age, or tap Human only to see people our staff checked are real. Open someone's profile to see their pictures and bio before you write.
Make a UK group
Want a space just for people from the UK? Start a public group chat and put the place in its name, like London or Scotland. Others can then find it by searching in Find groups. A group holds up to 300 people, and you can add a password if you want to choose who gets in.
Safety when someone is near you
A flag only shows what a person picked. It is not proof of where they live. Treat it as a hint, not a fact.
Do not share your town, your street, your workplace or your school with someone you just met. Chatw is not a dating service and does not match people by location, so take your time before you meet anyone.
If someone threatens you or seems to be under 18, block them and report it. If someone is in danger right now, call 999.
Your privacy
No email, no phone number and no real name. The site does not set its own cookies. Room history is short, and private chats are deleted after 30 days without a message.

Times show in your own device's time zone, so a phone set to UK time shows UK time.
