Chatw Private Messages — No Account Required
Send a private message on Chatw without registering. By-request mode, group chats, friends, voice calls, and how long messages are kept.
Message someone from the room
Click a name in the people list, or on a message, and write them. You do not need an email or a sign-up. They get a private chat, not a public post, and nobody else in the room can read it.
Private chats work the same with or without an account. An account only matters if you want to read them on a second device.
By request
Anyone can set their private messages to by-request. A stranger can then send one line, and has to wait until they accept. After they accept, it is a normal private chat.
This stops people from filling your screen with messages you never asked for. If you are the one writing, make that one line count.
What you can send in private
Text, emoji, pictures, and GIFs. Voice notes and short camera clips. You can see when a message was delivered and when it was read.
You can also start a voice call from a private chat. The other person hears a ring, and they can accept or decline. You can search inside a private chat to find something that was said earlier.
Group chats
Start a group chat with several people at once. Members can be added or removed later. A group can also have a voice call with everyone in it.
Friends
Save people as friends so you can find them again. Open your friends list from the left column or the Friends button. You can see who is online, and when someone was last seen.
How long private messages last
Each private chat keeps its last 200 messages. Older ones are deleted. A private chat that nobody has used for 30 days is deleted completely, with its pictures and clips.
That is on purpose. Your private chats are not stored for years.
Block, report, and voice check in private
Block someone and they can no longer reach you. Report a message and it goes to the person who runs the site.
If you are not sure someone is who their gender tag says, you can ask them for a voice check, once. They read a random phrase out loud, live. It is up to them to do it, and up to you to decide what to do if they will not.
